The event presented achievements, exchanged ideas and renewed our commitment to elevating healthcare standards. The City-Wide Enhancement and Business Partners Engagement Programmes were introduced during the event as a result of the partner satisfaction survey, ‘Your Voice Matters’, showcasing DHCC’s commitment towards excellence and enhancement. ‘Your City Engagement Hub’ was also launched during the event. This new online platform of the DHCC Business Partners Engagement Programme is a personalised dashboard, streamlining collaborations with our business partners, submitting and monitoring requests across six pillars: PR and Social Media, Corporate Wellness, CSR Partnerships, Conferences and Workshop Endorsement, Inauguration and Launch Events, and Promotions.
Moreover, DHCC enhanced its service spectrum and operational effectiveness by adopting eco-friendly measures, driving sustainable change in the healthcare and wellness sectors. With numerous promising projects on the horizon, we eagerly anticipate another year of success.

In June 2023, Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) organised a townhall, showcasing open dialogue with valued business partners and the wider community.
The event was a great platform to facilitate a dynamic exchange of findings from the partner satisfaction survey, ‘Your Voice Matters’. These insights helped shape DHCC’s strategic direction for the future.
The townhall also included the introduction of the City-Wide Enhancement and Business Partners Engagement Programmes and the launch of ‘Your City Engagement Hub,’ the new online platform created to streamline collaboration, aligning with Dubai Healthcare City Authority’s key goal of fostering and growing collaboration across the community. The hub provides a personalised dashboard to submit and monitor requests across the six pillars of the engagement programme: PR and Social Media, Corporate Wellness, CSR Partnerships, Conferences and Workshop Endorsement, Inauguration and Launch Events, and Promotions.

Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) marked World Mental Health Day in October 2023 with the launch of the initiative: ‘DHCC Mental Wellbeing Community Talks Programme’. Created to raise awareness on the importance of mental health by encouraging dialogue on the topic, bringing together community members and the public to discuss mental health and share knowledge and experiences.
The initiative builds on the Mental Health Programme launched by Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA), the governing body of DHCC, in 2018 to support the UAE Government’s mandate to improve mental wellbeing among the country’s youth and adults. The goal of the newly launched initiative is to help empower diverse communities across Dubai to improve their mental health and overall wellbeing through the available resources.
Jennifer von Baudissin, psychotherapist and lymphoma survivor, and Ulrika Bladh, psychotherapist and former cancer nurse, are two healthcare professionals from ‘The Psychiatry and Therapy Centre’ in Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC).
They both established a cancer survivors support group, known as ‘Daring to Live,’ offering a therapeutic framework for cancer survivors and creating a supportive environment through building connections and open discussions.
Recently, they opened up and shared their courageous battles against cancer.
"Through our 'Daring to Live' support group, Ulrika and I strive to tell a story of hope in the face of cancer. It's not just about surviving; it's about embracing the ‘new normal.’ Our journey as psychotherapists and me as a cancer survivor has fuelled our dedication to offering a therapeutic framework for others, allowing them to turn the page on fear and embarking on a new chapter defined by resilience and hope," said Jennifer von Baudissin.
The ‘Daring to Live’ free-of-charge sessions are open for women aged 25 and above and take place every Friday from 9:00am to 10:30am at the Psychiatry and Therapy Centre.
Through this group, participants can identify and address their emotional, physical, and psychological needs, overcome stigma and gain a new perspective to enhance their development journey.
Mediclinic City Hospital's Comprehensive Cancer Centre, in a groundbreaking collaboration with its sister division, Hirslanden in Switzerland, initiated a clinical trial that aims to revolutionise breast cancer treatment. Led by Dr. Annett Hamadi, Principal Investigator, Consultant General and Breast Surgeon at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai, and Professor Christoph Tausch, Coordinating Investigator from Hirslanden’s Breast Centre in Zurich, this first-of-its-kind project will evaluate whether imaging and intelligent vacuum-assisted biopsy of tissue can effectively determine the success of pre-tumour surgery chemotherapy in breast cancer patients.
The research will also predict complete remission in some patients using these techniques, potentially enabling them to avoid surgery. This innovative research will continue until 2025 and will involve 420 patients across the UAE, Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Dr. Hamadi highlighted the importance of collaborative strength, noting that the combined knowledge and expertise from both countries will enhance the study’s quality and reliability, ultimately benefiting breast cancer patients. Mediclinic Middle East’s advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment services, developed in partnership with Hirslanden, reflect their commitment to delivering the latest in oncology expertise and technology.

Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) inaugurated Dubai’s first Russian Clinic, the Kandinsky Clinic, a multidisciplinary facility for Russian- and English-speaking patients. Kandinsky Clinic has a team of more than 40 established and highly skilled doctors who have been carefully selected from the top clinics in Moscow, across Russia, and worldwide.
Specialists are experts in various medical fields, including paediatrics, gynaecology, allergology and anti-aging medicine. Kandinsky Clinic offers a wide range of medical services, from prevention and screening to treatment, including minimally invasive procedures and rehabilitation.
The launch of the clinic is a testament to DHCC’s commitment to increase its healthcare portfolio to meet the demands of the sector, build an ecosystem that empowers growth for partners and caters to the needs of the Russian community in Dubai with the highest standards in medical services.

The unveiling of a new Arabic language book 'Autism Spectrum Disorders and Stem Cell Therapy’ is a significant milestone for the American Spine Center (ASC). Authored by Prof. Dato Sri Mike Chan and translated by Dr. Hisham Hakim, ASC Chairman, the book was launched during a special event held in October to mark Stem Cells Awareness Day. The book delves into the fundamental pathology of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), exploring innovative ways to treat autism using stem cells and offering hope and insights to the landscape of autism treatment.
Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (PJSC), announced its strategic collaboration with Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) to offer its Integrated Physical Security Platform (IPSP) solutions. The agreement was signed between Mohammed bin Sulaiman, Chief Executive Officer of Moro Hub, and Allae Almanini, Chief Financial Officer from DHCA, on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2023.
This marks a significant leap forward in healthcare security as DHCC becomes the first community to adopt Moro Hub's cutting-edge IPSP, a platform that combines the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with advanced security technologies. Implementing Moro IPSP in DHCC will support a wide range of essential functions, such as Facial Recognition (FR), Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and more.
In addition, the platform will offer a comprehensive view of security data for efficient incident response. The aim is to protect the patients, medical professionals and all individuals visiting or working within the DHCC.
Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) organised and hosted an engaging Riders’ Sports Day for more than 100 delivery riders from Deliveroo, Careem, InstaShop and Noon at Danube Sports World.
Created to give delivery riders an opportunity to participate in a friendly competition across a range of sports, including basketball, football, padel and cricket, the event also highlighted the positive impact of physical activity on mental health and overall wellbeing.
The Riders’ Sports Day is the latest activation in DHCC’s Riders’ Corner initiative, which strives to support delivery riders in the emirate and promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
Riders’ Corner is a dedicated air-conditioned space at Society within DHCC for the emirate’s riders to rest, get access to drinking water and charge their phones. Since Riders’ Corner was introduced, DHCC has partnered with leading delivery companies to provide riders with health check-ups, ophthalmology screenings and vitamin supplements delivered by DHCC business partners.

The signing of a recent partnership with Jade Healthcare Consultancy provides Dubai Healthcare City's (DHCC) business partners access to a range of dedicated services at special rates, including health insurance consultancy, advisory for healthcare professionals and training programmes.

Able UK,in collaboration with Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA), held an informative two-day workshop on ‘Comprehensive and Compassionate Approach for Addressing Problem Behaviour’ to encourage knowledge sharing among skilled medical professionals.

OUR SUCCESSFUL COMMUNITY
In a tale of medical excellence and boundless hope, an 18-month-old Emirati girl has regained her vision thanks to a groundbreaking surgical intervention at Barraquer Eye Hospital in Dubai. The young girl arrived at the hospital with a congenital cyst measuring 5.3mm, obscuring over 50% of her left eye vision. Dr. Hernan Osorio, a renowned Consultant Ophthalmologist at Barraquer Eye Hospital, explained that the cyst had been present since her birth, gradually affecting not only her visual field but also damaging her natural cornea.
Dr. Osorio and his medical team embarked on a complex and delicate journey to restore her vision. Following a comprehensive evaluation, they recommended a Corneal Transplant, a procedure involving the replacement of a damaged cornea with healthy donor tissue. In this case, the donor cornea was sourced from a cornea bank in the USA. The surgical team, including paediatric ophthalmic surgeons, paediatric anesthesiologists and corneal transplant specialists, carefully orchestrated the intricate procedure.
The young patient underwent a two-hour surgery, where her entire cornea was replaced. After one day of post-operative care, she was safely discharged. A spokesperson from Barraquer Eye Hospital underscored the significance of this successful surgery, emphasising that performing a Penetrating Keratoplasty on such a young patient is a rare and complex achievement.
This heartwarming story is a testament to the unwavering dedication of the DHCC community to ensure that every patient receives world-class healthcare.
