The role is responsible to provides high-quality care to patients and supports to physicians.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Assures quality care by adhering to standards set by the physicians
  • Provides care education to patients in person or over the phone
  • Ensure that all reports/documentation required by the physician are available prior to appointments.
  • Review physicians’ clinic and surgery schedules in advance for adequate patient flow planning and updates.
  • Serve as a triage nurse and records blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, updates medication/allergies and maintains accurate, detailed reports in the patient medical record as per Dubai Health Authority (DHA) standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their family members to ensure patients are fully aware of the details of the treatment and provide consent for medical procedures before undertaking treatments.
  • Assist physicians as needed with examinations/treatment, administering prescribed medications as per doctor’s orders and prescribed treatment plans, changing dressings and cleaning/disinfecting wounds and provide appropriate nursing care tailored to the patients’ age, physical and psychological needs, and cultural background.
  • Prioritize patients’ needs and intervenes appropriately in complex, urgent or emergency situations to ensure provision of requisite medical care to patients, initiating effective emergency care when necessary.
  • Liaise with Procurement to assist in maintaining stock levels of consumables in the Medical Center.
  • Ensures the safe storage, rotation and disposal of medications is undertaken and, where appropriate, oversees the monitoring, stock control and documentation of controlled drug usage according to legal requirements.
  • Apply infection control measures within the Medical Center according to local and national guidelines and ensures application of policies/practices that reduce environmental health risks, are culturally sensitive and increase access to health care for all.
  • Monitor work areas and practices to ensure they are safe, free from hazards and conform to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Collate, analyze, and present clinical data and information to the team and patients using appropriate charts and/or graphs and latest technological systems to enhance care.
  • Keeps abreast with latest changes in the field of healthcare and patientcare to contribute to the development of the nursing role at the Medical Center to cater to needs of the patients.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Infection Control Coordinator:

  • Act as a resource person in the clinical area and infection control issues.
  • Implement and maintain an environment which will ensure the safety of patients and other health care workers using evidence-based infection prevention and control measures to reduce the risk of infection.
  • Engages in health promotional activities related to infection prevention and control e.g., hand hygiene awareness days, infection control seminars etc.
  • Collects, analyze and interpret infection-control data.
  • Notify local, state, and federal authorities about infectious diseases as required.
  • Implement, manage and evaluating infection prevention and control activities.
  • Conducts infection control risk assessments for construction and renovation projects; equipment inspection, and pest control.
  • Educate staff about the risk, prevention, transmission, and control of infection, disease-specific care, appropriate precautions, and appropriate assessments.
  • Develops, implement, monitor, and revise the infection control policies and procedures to ensure compliance to standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in the Quality Improvement projects by assessing, monitory and assessing nosocomial infections and evaluating outcomes on a continual basis.
  • Schedules and conduct regular Infection Control meetings and disseminating information and recommendations to all as required.
  • Plan and organize education programs for staff regarding infection control issues.
  • Ensures compliance with all infection control standards, guidelines, and all other regulatory requirements of DHA.
  • Evaluate processes and procedure within the clinic and give recommendation on how to improve processes.

Fire Warden’s Responsibilities:

  • Act as a resource person in the clinic for all fire safety related issues.
  • Creates and maintains an environment which will ensure the safety of patients and other health care workers using evidence-based fire and safety measures to reduce the risk of fire.
  • Ensures that all fire exits, and routes are always free from obstruction and available.
  • Inspects fire extinguishers are in their correct place and services are maintained.
  • Ensures that general housekeeping is in good order i.e. paper storage and waste controlled. No room with a fixed source of ignition or heat is to be used for the storage of combustible materials.
  • Conduct fire risk assessments.
  • Manage all checks, paperwork, and compliance documentation.
  • Demonstrates proper use of fire extinguishers.
  • Raise the alarm and calling the emergency services.
  • Direct staff to safe available exit routes and assembly points during fire.
  • Ensure to close all doors and fire doors.
  • Conducts one internal fire drill annually.
  • Attends roll call at the assembly point.
  • Reports to the fire service on their arrival.
  • Participates in a de-briefing exercise following the evacuation and documenting report.
  • Educates staff about the risk, prevention, and control of fire.
  • Monitors electrical safety checks and maintain records.
  • Ensures compliance with all fire and safety standards, guidelines, and all other regulatory requirements of DHA.

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing of at least three (3) years duration from an accredited institute/college/university.
  • Fulfill the Current Dubai Health Authority Licensing Requirements as a Registered Nurse

Language Skills

  • Fluent English and Arabic (optional) skills (written and spoken)

Years of Experience

  • Minimum 3 years clinical nursing experience in OPD/ Surgeries preferably in a JCI accredited facility.
