Academic Medical Center Announces Intensive Two-Week Continuing Medical Education and Training Symposium

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center (AMC) today announced a two-week specialized Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme and a training symposium in collaboration with the Advanced Health Education Center (AHEC), a leading US-based education company, and Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), an integrated healthcare free zone and a member of TECOM Investments.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center (AMC) today announced a two-week specialized Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme and a training symposium in collaboration with the Advanced Health Education Center (AHEC), a leading US-based education company, and Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), an integrated healthcare free zone and a member of TECOM Investments.

To be held from 6-17 June at the DHCC campus in Dubai, the two-week intensive programme on women’s health, cardiovascular ultrasound, nursing leadership and quality management will provide over 20 individual course options, as well as an opportunity to earn up to 160 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 credit.

The first week of the programme will focus on women’s health ultrasound and mammography, while the second will highlight cardio vascular ultrasound, nursing leadership and quality management. AHEC’s expert faculty will deliver new and evidence-based knowledge and advanced techniques to enhance patient outcomes and safety. The courses will combine lecture, live demonstrations and hands-on scanning to obtain skills that will quickly transfer to the workplace.

Texas-based AHEC is a leading provider of imaging education for the disciplines of general ultrasound, echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, mammography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, bone density, digital x-ray, vascular interventional, and quality management for imaging.

The programme is designed to provide opportunities for physicians, nurses, imaging technologists and allied healthcare professionals to earn valuable CME credits and build clinical skills in a number of areas.

Week one of the programme will focus on women’s health issues with courses including hands-on workshops in obstetric ultrasound, gynecologic ultrasound, breast ultrasound and ultrasound imaging of the female patients. Concurrently, a five-day programme in mammography will provide up to 40 hours of CME, equal to the initial training requirements for the US Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).

The second week will offer courses in ultrasound including echocardiography interpretation, carotid ultrasound, arterial duplex ultrasound, peripheral arterial disease, venous reflux and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The AHEC nursing courses will include venous access, EKG interpretation, quality care and leadership, medical, OB and neonatal management and pediatric medical emergency management.
