Dubai Healthcare City, a member of TECOM Investments’ Sciences Cluster, today outlined the principles of integrated healthcare endorsed by the free zone as part of its support to the first German-Arab Symposium on advanced orthopaedic treatment, therapies and education.
His Excellency Joerg Bode, Minister of Economics, Labour and Transport of the German State of Niedersachsen, attended the event at Dubai Healthcare City, which was hosted by The Ministry of Niedersachsen in Germany, and NGlobal GmbH. It was also supported by Otto Bock HealthCare, Hannover Medical School, Annastift, Germany, and German Limbtech Orthopaedic Technology –Dubai.
Dr. Nariman Al Mulla, Advisor, UAE Ministry of Health, and Dr. Abdulkareem Sultan Al Olama, Executive Director, Center for Healthcare Planning and Quality (CPQ) at Dubai Healthcare City, welcomed expert delegates to the forum that was approved for CME/CPD points.
Dr Abdulkareem Sultan Al Olama said: “The CPQ was established to set a new benchmark in healthcare in the region and to create a governance structure that attracts and encourages international best practices. I am, therefore, delighted to see the commitment to quality standards, best practice and professional exchanges such as these that ultimately translate into better patient care and outcomes.
“The symposium explored collaborative and multi-disciplinary solutions to orthopedic treatment and therapies. Dubai Healthcare City was founded on the principle of integrated healthcare which is being put into practice every day here. For example, the German Limbtech Centre provides a wide range of orthopaedic technology services but also works with a host of multi-disciplinary specialists based in other DHCC clinics and hospitals. This type of collaboration and integration continues to help improve the quality of care for those who need it most.”
The German-Arab symposium brought together doctors, therapists, orthopaedic technicians and manufacturers to jointly discuss methods to enhance and develop new ways of treating patients with artificial limbs.
The symposium was also addressed by Dr. Henning Windhagen, Dr. Tilman Callies, and Professor Dr. Christoph Gutenbrunner from the renowned Hannover Medical School. The experts discussed the ISPO standards that unify professional qualifications in advanced orthopaedic technology worldwide, training and continuing education and the latest trends and technologies of prosthetic fitting.
Prof. Dr. Henning Windhagen, Director of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Hannover Medical School, Germany, said: “Cooperative agreements and scientific partnerships are essential to our work. These are positively reflected in many projects resulting from local, national and international contacts maintained by our physicians and scientists.
“The goal of our clinic is to provide patients a well-considered, technically highly specialized surgical treatment based on thorough consideration of all options and to employ internationally recognised modern surgical techniques. Today’s symposium allowed us to engage in important discussions with our peers on these options and examine ways to raise the bar in our field through appropriate specialist training and education.”
As a free zone dedicated to healthcare excellence and patient care, Dubai Healthcare City hosts several events throughout the year, focusing on health issues and promoting a holistic well-being.
