Dräger, also inventor of the first artificial ventilator, to support training in critical care and trauma settings at Dubai Healthcare City
During surgery or breathing difficulty emergencies, anesthesia and artificial ventilation technologies are critical.
Harvesting 125 years of experience as pioneers of both these technologies, Dräger partners with Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) on the sidelines of Arab Health, the largest healthcare exhibition and congress in the Middle East and Asia, to offer support in training in critical care and trauma settings.
As part of its continuous efforts to develop the capacity in healthcare, Dubai Healthcare City, a health and wellness destination that brings together a wealth of services in healthcare, medical education and research, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dräger, a leading German medical and safety technology company that celebrates its 125 anniversary.
Dräger is credited with pioneering anesthesia technology and artificial ventilation through its first emergency respirator - pulmotor.
The partnership will see collaboration in providing Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses for healthcare professionals through DHCC’s Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center (MBR-AMC). Artificial ventilation and anesthesia are needed in critical care and trauma scenarios, and also required during invasive medical procedures.
Commenting on the new partnership, Marwan Abedin, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Healthcare City said: “In our aim to enhance medical and healthcare quality, it is our responsibility to keep healthcare professionals informed of the latest breakthroughs and developments in the healthcare sector. Dräger is well known for its innovative solutions and advanced technologies, therefore this partnership will allow us to expand our host of specialised trainings that strengthen core knowledge and sharpen technical and non-technical skills.
“This new collaboration is a natural progression to our existing partnership with Dräger. Their regional headquarters are based in DHCC and their advanced machines and equipment are used in MBR-AMC. We look forward to further strengthening this relationship going forward. We also congratulate the company on its 125 year anniversary.”
Stefan Dräger, Chairman of the Executive Board, said, “Since Dräger moved to Dubai Healthcare City, it has proved to be the best location for both clinics and medical companies like us. And with the Dräger Academy, which provides training programs for our employees as well as employees in hospitals, fire services, mining, industry and public service, we prove our commitment to qualified education.
“By cooperating with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center, we have taken the chance to improve and optimize the regional healthcare knowledge. In order to further support the optimization of professional training, the MBR-AM’sC Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center has been entirely equipped with Dräger medical devices. Training participants benefit from the possibility to get a realistic experience in a safe environment with no adverse consequences.”
