Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) today participates at the 4th Moscow Medical and Health Tourism Congress (MHTC). Attendance at the international event signifies DHCC’s continued efforts to showcase its healthcare offering to an ever increasing global audience with the aim of attracting medical tourists to the free zone.
DHCC will participate in MHTC as a key player in the Dubai Medical Tourism Group Initiative that was established in 2012; following an announcement from HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council; with the aim of establishing Dubai as a global health tourism hub. Through partnership with the Dubai Health Authority and the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and under the umbrella of the Dubai Medical Tourism Group, DHCC will continue to validate its position as the home of world-class healthcare facilities.
Marwan Abedin, CEO of DHCC said ““We are very excited to be present at MHTC and to explore the opportunities this congress presents. As it has been witnessed; Dubai has long been welcoming Russian tourists who favoured the city as a holiday destination, enjoying the warmer climate, outstanding hospitality and a close proximity. Russia and the CIS have been identified as key markets due to the rapid increase in the number of patients that are currently travelling abroad for treatment. And while more people are looking to blend their medical and travel needs, this event in Moscow acts as a key platform for DHCC to demonstrate to this pivotal audience its position as an established centre of healthcare excellence, and to further establish its presence as a medical hub to the global community.
Our healthcare infrastructure has evolved dramatically in little over a decade. As a result of investment in world-class facilities supported by the highest standard of care, the Emirate has emerged as a globally recognised medical hub with DHCC at its heart. We look forward to the coming days in Moscow and exploring the many opportunities the congress presents.”
To demonstrate the free zone’s healthcare excellence clusters, DHCC’s presence at the congress is supported by representatives from key world class facilities, including two Joint Commission International accredited hospitals; the American Academy For Cosmetic Surgery Hospital, the Mediclinic City Hospital, and centers representing medical services that are mostly sought by medical travelers including Beijing Tong Ren Tang Gulf, part of the internationally renowned brand that have pioneered traditional Chinese medicine, Dubai School of Dental Medicine, a holistic dental center offering full range of dental treatment, and the Moorefield’s Eye Center, the first overseas branch of the world renowned ophthalmic hospital.
The number of Russian visitors to Dubai increased by 54 per cent last year and tourists from the country are among the top five travellers to the Emirate. Almost 400,000 Russians visited Dubai in 2012 and as a result, the number of flights between the two regions was increased. In the last three months alone, Emirates Airline has increased overall capacity to Moscow by a substantial 46 per cent. Dubai also continues to welcome an ever increasing Russian expatriate community. The Russian-speaking work force is rapidly growing and provides medical tourists and their families with a comfortable environment in which to recuperate. Initiatives such as the recently introduced medical tourist visa indicate further Dubai’s commitment to welcoming patients from overseas.
Russian expatriate Arman Dyussembayev, an oil industry executive at Gazpromneft-Badra Dubai added “I have seen a dramatic increase in recent years not only in the number of Russians holidaying in Dubai, but also in the number of individuals that choose to settle in the Emirate. An increasing number of Russian speaking nationals contribute to the overall ease and comfort of the visiting medical tourist. A familiar environment, ease of access and a healthcare structure of international standards will, in my opinion, guarantee that the number of patients seeking treatment here continues to increase at a phenomenal rate.”
