Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a member of TECOM Investments, today announced it will be one of the supporting partners for mHealth Conference and Expo 2010, the foremost event that encompasses complete mobile healthcare ecosystem.

To be held from 14-15 September at The Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach in Dubai, mHealth will bring together experts in healthcare and information technology to discuss the global development of mobile healthcare and explore ways in which universal healthcare can be delivered with the aid of mobile technology.

Dr. Ayesha Abdullah, Executive Director, Dubai Healthcare City, said: “Mobile technology offers tremendous potential to transform healthcare delivery and patient care. It can connect patients with their healthcare providers, enable faster communication between different healthcare professionals involved in the care of a patient, play a vital role in patient education and information provision, as well as contribute to systematic gathering and analysis of healthcare data. At the same time, it is vital that this technology is developed and applied within a clear regulatory framework where patient confidentiality is respected and the integrity of mobile information is upheld.

“At DHCC, we are using healthcare systems to connect various clinics and deliver a more efficient and high quality service to patients as well as collect information about patient care. We are also developing platforms to enable greater patient choice and easier access to information about our healthcare providers.”

Steven Clarke, mHealth Conference Director, said: “mHealth 2010 brings together leading players from across the entire mobile healthcare ecosystem. It will feature over 35 top executive presentations, global case studies and more than 200 industry opinion leaders and decision makers. We are delighted to welcome DHCC as a supporting partner and have chosen to host the conference in the city that hosts Dubai Healthcare City, which is fast becoming a hub for innovation in healthcare and technology.”

Mobile Health is a recent term for medical and public health practice supported by mobile devices, such as mobile phones, patient monitoring devices, PDAs, and other wireless devices and forms part of an increasing movement towards citizen-centered healthcare delivery.
