Japanese Minister and delegates visit DHCC to discuss future collaborative opportunities

Dubai Healthcare City(DHCC) has welcomed a Japanese delegation led by Mr. Mikio Shimoji, a former Minister of State for Disaster Management. The visit saw both parties discuss potential opportunities for collaboration in the fields of medical education and to highlight investment opportunities within the free zone.

DHCC, as an established, internationally recognized centre of excellence in education, research and medical tourism, provides a unique and interesting business model to Asian investors. Discussions took place to identify future areas for potential investments.

Speaking about the visit, Marwan Abedin, DHCC CEO said "we are delighted to welcome the Japanese delegation to DHCC. Thanks to a unique free zone set-up, coupled with an established infrastructure offering truly world class facilities, we are able to offer foreign investors exciting investment opportunities."

DHCC is already home to a number of Asian operators, including the Sakura Medical and Dental Clinic, offering unique Japanese dental treatment and services to the Japanese community, the Beijing Ton Reng Tang, a traditional Chinese medicine clinic and the Korean Acupuncture and Herb Clinic, specializing in traditional Chinese medicine techniques such as acupuncture. During the visit DHCC provided an overview of the many world-class facilities and range of specialists and experts available and the guests toured the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center (MBR-AMC), the education and research arm of DHCC and home to projects including the state-of-the-art Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center, the first and biggest comprehensive simulation centre of its kind in the region and the Al Maktoum Medical Library, which houses the most advanced collection of medical education resources regionally.

Leading the delegation, Mr. Mikio Shimoji said 'DHCC has sets standards in healthcare and medical education that are recognized on a global scale. Their successful business model has opened the door to investments from Japan and the rest of Asia and we look forward to our two regions collaborating on many more initiatives in the future.'
