New hospital expected to open early 2017 in Phase 1 · Dubai Healthcare City to continue its focus on healthcare specialization · India-based provider Medanta – The Medicity holds the global distinction of performing the highest number of Living Donor Liver Transplants, and the first Robotic Kidney Transplant
Dubai, January 29, 2015: Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), the world’s largest healthcare free zone, today announced plans to establish the first UAE-based hospital of India’s leading healthcare provider, Medanta.
The planned Medanta Hospital in DHCC’s Phase 1 will have a capacity of approximately 250 beds, and will cater to a broad range of specialties. The new hospital is expected to open by early 2017.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of Arab Health 2015.
Medanta – The Medicity, established in 2009 in Gurgaon, adjoining India’s capital, New Delhi, holds the global distinction of performing the highest number of Living Donor Liver Transplants and the first Robotic Kidney Transplant.
From 2009 till March 2014, the hospital has carried out 150,000+ procedures and surgeries in specialties including cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, oncology, and liver and renal transplants. The success rate of treatments and the breadth of expertise available at the hospital have contributed exceedingly towards medical tourism, with over 150,000 international outpatients and close to 20,000 international inpatients recorded since 2010. The overseas patients’ base includes GCC, US, South East Asia, and Asia.

Dr Naresh Trehan, the world-renowned cardiac surgeon and the force behind Medanta – The Medicity, will be setting up the Dubai-based hospital as a venture between its holding company, Global Health, and a company promoted by India-basedindustrialist Ravi Jaipuria and Dubai-based businessman, Murari Jalan.
