Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), the region’s integrated healthcare free zone, has announced the opening of the American Spine Center, a recognized institution of excellence with a two-decade reputation in treating chronic spine-related conditions.

Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, US, the American Spine Center was established in 1991 and offers advanced spinal decompression, low level laser therapy, spinal rehabilitation, and physical therapy for the neck and back. The opening of the Dubai facility marks its first presence in the Gulf region.

The launch ceremony was presided over by Dr. Ayesha Abdullah, Managing Director of Dubai Healthcare City. Government and private sector officials, as well as medical professionals and other guests from the healthcare industry in the UAE were present during the occasion. As part of the launch, an expert offered presentations on the center’s state-of-the-art medical equipment and comprehensive protocols for the treatment of back pain.

Dr. Ayesha Abdullah said: “On behalf of Dubai Healthcare City, I congratulate the American Spine Center for the launch of its first facility outside the US and for making DHCC the location of choice. We are confident the facilities and services offered by DHCC will complement the requirements of the center in offering world-class care to patients.”

Dr. Hisham Hakim, founder and chairman of the American Spine Center, addressed the gathering at the launch ceremony. Highlighting the reason for choosing Dubai as a starting point for the Gulf region, he said DHCC’s ambition to become one of the region’s leading centers for excellence in healthcare resonates with the American Spine Center’s vision of delivering multiple diagnostic and treatment to provide the best possible outcomes for patients.

Dr. Hakim said: “Back pain is one of the most common problems in the region.  The non-surgical protocols that we have been practicing over the last two decades are based on a broad-based approach of pain management, physiotherapy, and nutrition. In addition, our center is introducing The Accu SpinaR system, a highly successful method for treating spine-related pain that has achieved great success and excellent results in the US.”

Dr. Hassan Jabbar Shaikh, Pain Medicine Consultant from the UK with vast experience in chronic pain management, has joined the American Spine Center in Dubai. Expressing his dedication to providing quality care for the patients visiting the center, Dr. Shaikh stressed on the need to improve awareness on various pain conditions and their treatments through delivering diverse methods of education.

Dubai Healthcare City currently hosts 90 medical centers, two JCI-accredited hospitals and more than 2,000 medical experts.
