DUBAI HEALTHCARE CITY AUTHORITY IN COLLABORATION WITH THE FEDERAL AUTHORITY FOR IDENTITY AND CITIZENSHIP SETS UP AN EMIRATES IDENTITY CENTER IN DUBAI HEALTHCARE CITY

Wednesday, Jan 03, 2018

Dubai, January 3, 2018, Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA), the governing body of Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), today announced – in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) – the setting up of an ICA’s Customer Happiness Center in the free zone to serve its community members and the wider Dubai community.

With the introduction of this new center, the 8,000 people working in DHCC and their families are now able to carry out all their residency visa procedures within the free zone, at a close proximity from their workplace. Previously, the free zone workers could submit their residency visa application and carry out the medical fitness test in DHCC but had to approach an ICA’s center outside the free zone FOR their Emirates Identity application procedures.

Dr Ramadan AlBlooshi, CEO, Dubai Healthcare City Authority – Regulatory, said, “The setting up of the ICA center in DHCC is in line with our commitment to provide our growing community an all-encompassing environment with world-class services. Last year, we collaborated with the concerned bodies to establish the Emirates Fitness center and a General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai’s office to facilitate residency visa application procedures in the free zone and with this new center we bring all of the services required for the visa under one roof, saving our community members’ time and efforts and providing a satisfactory experience,”.

As part of the collaboration between the DHCA and ICA the new center will also be serving other Dubai residents.

Commenting on the importance of the partnership AlBlooshi added, “Such collaborations are a great example of how government entities can come together to achieve the Dubai government plan of 2021 which seeks to create individuals who are happy and generally satisfied with their life in the emirate of Dubai”.

Located in the Ibn Sina Complex (building 27), the center is to operate from 8 am to 2.30 pm, Sundays to Thursdays. It will be able to accommodate up to 120 applications per day.

Nasser Al Abdouly, Director of Customer Happiness Centers Support at ICA, said “In line with our wise leadership’s vision of making the happiness of UAE residents a top priority, we are always keen to collaborate with entities in both the public and private sectors to enhance the quality of our services. In this context, the ICA is continuously working to expand the network of its centers and offices across the country bringing them closer to the customer centers of other concerned bodies including medical fitness centers. We place great emphasis on the collaborative efforts with other entities to ensure the success of joint projects which play a role in making our country one of the best globally, in line with the UAE 2021 vision.”

About Dubai Healthcare City Authority

Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA), the governing body of the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) free zone, was established in May 2011 by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to position the free zone as a preferred and prosperous global health and wellness destination.

HH Sheikh Mohammed appointed HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein as the Chairperson of DHCA and appointed a Board of Directors to create a health and wellness ecosystem, driving excellence in medical, wellness, education and research.

DHCA operates through an independent regulatory arm, ‘Dubai Healthcare City Authority – Regulatory’, or DHCR, which regulates the free zone, and reports directly to the DHCA Board. DHCR is responsible for ensuring compliance and enforcement of international quality standards for clinical and non-clinical facilities within DHCC.

DHCR is also responsible for the licensure of all healthcare professionals, educators and operators, as well as setting and maintaining international best practices in delivering healthcare within the free zone.

In December 2016, DHCA streamlined operations to steer the free zone’s progress through three verticals – Dubai Healthcare City Investments (DHCI), Dubai Healthcare City Education and Research (DHCE & R) and Dubai Healthcare City Medical (DHCM).

DHCI focuses on developing a health and wellness destination, attracting investment, and creating exceptional customer experiences for patients, residents, visitors and members of the free zone community. DHCI also strengthens the free zone’s medical and wellness tourism portfolios.

DHCE & R spearheads education and research, overseeing the development of the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences.

DHCM oversees the medical facilities under DHCA including Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, Dubai Dental Clinic, Dubai Bone and Joint Center and the upcoming Mohammed Bin Rashid University Hospital.
