Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) today announced the official opening of its first four-star hotel, Novotel Bur Dubai, by its strategic partner Accor, expanding the free zone’s hospitality portfolio.
The new hotel, with a capacity of 219 rooms and suites, is located in the heart of DHCC’s Phase 1, which is home to more than 400 facilities, including three general hospitals. It is a short distance from Dubai Creek and within walking distance from Dubai Healthcare City Metro Station.
Dr. Ramadan AlBlooshi, Chief Regulatory Officer, Dubai Healthcare City Authority, said “As the first four-star hotel in the City, Novotel Bur Dubai is a unique addition to the hospitality portfolio in DHCC. It will enhance the diversification of the free zone’s services offering affordable stay for visitors, especially medical travelers, complementing our medical tourism portfolio.”
The hotel was recently inaugurated by His Excellency Sheikh Mubarak A M Al-Sabah, Chairman of Action Hotels, the property’s owning company of Novotel Bur Dubai, at a launch ceremony held last week and attended by His Excellency Diab Farhan Al Rashidi, Consul General of Kuwait in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Her Excellency, Raja Rabia, the French Consul General in Dubai, and His Excellency, Ian Halliday, the Consul General of Australia in Dubai.
Marc Descrozaille, Chief Operating Officer, Accor Middle East and Africa, said “We are delighted to be the first four-star midscale hotel in Dubai Healthcare City. This newly-opened property is set to become a go-to destination for a variety of travellers, offering modern and stylish rooms, as well as carefully curated dining options focusing on health and wellness, which ties in seamlessly with the Dubai Healthcare City Community, appealing to both residents and visitors alike.”
The hotel offers specially designed rooms for People of Determination as well as interconnecting family-friendly rooms. It also has a fully equipped fitness center, an outdoor temperature-controlled swimming pool and (multiple) F&B options.

About Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC)
Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) is an economic free zone that was established in 2002 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The free zone is governed by government entity Dubai Healthcare City Authority and regulated by independent body Dubai Healthcare City Authority – Regulatory.
Over the past 16 years, DHCC’s responsive regulatory framework and high clinical standards have attracted top names in healthcare and medical education. Today, global names such as the UK’s Moorfields Eye Hospital, American multinational Johnson & Johnson as well as South Africa’s leading private hospital group Mediclinic, have set up in DHCC. Regional leaders Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group offer specialist patient services. The free zone is also home to one of the youngest medical universities in the country – the Mohammed Bin Rashid Medical University of Medicine and Health Sciences which opened in 2014 and is the only institute in the UAE to receive the prestigious American College of Surgeons accreditation.
The free zone’s healthcare community thrives alongside a network of businesses from hospitality to consultancies and retail outlets. DHCC continues to remain the base for regional headquarters, and as of 2019, close to a 100 global names operate in the free zone.
Located in the heart of Dubai, DHCC comprises two phases. Phase 1 occupying 9 million square feet in Oud Metha is an established community dedicated to healthcare and medical education. DHCC Phase 2 expansion, currently under development, occupies 19 million square feet in Al Jaddaf Dubai; it is dedicated to wellness with its scenic location overlooking the wetland reserve Ras al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary and Dubai Water Canal that links the Dubai Creek natural seawater inlet of the Arabian Gulf.
